Banksias
We love banksias, not only for their distinguished foliage, colourful cones and variety of form, but particularly because they bloom in winter.
Foundation plants
We planted our one hectare garden in 2003 in the middle of the Milennium Drought. This meant that many plants that we wanted were not available and that some plants did not survive the lack of overhead protection, the heat and the very dry conditions.
Plants in pots
Growing plants in pots can fill hard spaces and also allows plants that don’t like your soil to grow.
Light and Shadows
When disaster strikes
The last of our Pinus radiata falls over destroying a part of the garden. It makes an opportunity to replant
Wet and frosty foliage
During winter, we usually have at least 100 different plants in bloom. Occasionally we get some frost as shwn here.
Design principles
